Colonsay is something in between the two, with an unforgettable paddle across the watery strand to the tidal island of Oronsay. Located on the Applecross peninsula, this seaside bothy has unrivalled views of Skye and its slighter neighbour Raasay. Jura is little populated and is a vast island of wildness with the Correyvreckan whirlpool at its northern end. ![]() It’s known as the whisky isle, and whilst there’s an option to do a distillery tour, our focus is on doing some great walks and understanding its fascinating past of Celtic chapels and as the seat of the Lord of the Isles. Islay is well-populated with lots of beautiful beaches. The Southern Hebrides featured in this tour and trek is a group of 3 main islands that are neighbours and yet so very different from one another.
